December 9, 2009 - From December 7th to 18th, 2009 the much awaited for United Nations Climate Conference (COP 15) is taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Heinrich Boell Foundation in Israel is supporting a delegation of Israeli NGOs from the Sustainability Coalition  - working under the auspices of the environmental umbrella organization Life & Environment - to actively advocate for a comprehensive climate policy by the Israeli government. more»

Climate Change Action

350 Campaign Leader Comes to IsraelOctober 21, 2009 - Environmental activist, author and co-founder of the 350.org campaign, Bill McKibben came to Israel on September 6-7, 2009 as part of a worldwide tour to raise awareness for climate change action. The 350 campaign is organizing an international effort that will culminate in a global day of climate action on October 24th. Amazingly, there are over 4,200 events scheduled in 170 countries on October 24th, the largest international political action ever recorded in human history! more»

Climate Change and Israeli Policy – The Heinrich Boell Stiftung has defined the issue of climate change and sustainable development as being central to its work internationally, both in the areas of mitigation and adaptation. It advocates and advances an agenda for development rights for developing nations and contributes to seeking solutions in many international forums while at the same time, adapts its work to the specific context of each of its 28 offices around the world. more»

August 12, 2009 - On Saturday night, August 1st, a masked gunman walked into the “youthbar” - a social youth program run by the Tel Aviv LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) association - lifted an automatic machine-gun and began shooting aimlessly and killing two people, and wounding ten others before fleeing into the night. Among the goals of HBS Israel is to help create new opportunities for public participation and integration of marginalized communities and to build socio-political agendas comprised of diverse groups in society. Living After Surviving event, June 18 2008
Event

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel, the Heinrich Boell Stiftung together with Action Reconciliation Service for Peace invited Shoah survivors and the general public to discuss their current situation in Israel and to reflect on the future of memorializing the Shoah. On June 18th 2008, some 100 people gathered at Beit Sokolov in Tel Aviv to take part in the event. more»

The Stasi And Its Aftermath: Reflections On The Legacy Of The East German Secret Police

The Heinrich Boell Stiftung together with the Cinemateque Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Sderot cordially invites you to events with Marianne Birthler, the Federal Commissioner for the Records of the State Security Service of the former German Democratic Republic (GDR).
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the escalade of the headquarters of the State Security Service of the GDR by citizens in January 1990 the documentary film „Last to Know” (Jeder schweigt von etwas anderem) will be shown. Marianne Birthler will talk about the work of her office and be available for questions and discussion after the film.
